Richard Carter: Chris’s commitment is unwavering
The Yorkshire Party’s founder says new Leader Chris Whitwood has the drive and determination to push the Party on to its next stage
Richard Carter, the first Leader and President of the Yorkshire Party, has thrown his weight behind Chris’s focus.
Richard, who founded the party alongside Stewart Arnold and Richard Honnoraty in 2014, led the Yorkshire Party through its first European Election in 2014, General Election in 2015 and the 2016 Local Elections.
Under his leadership, the party secured tens of thousands of votes and its first elected councillors.
Richard said: “I’ve known Chris since 2014, as one of our first ever members. His commitment to securing first-rate, tried-and-tested powers for Yorkshire, similar to those in Scotland or Wales, is unwavering.

“He has spent the past five years working hard to secure the powers Yorkshire needs, so we can achieve the social, economic and cultural renewal of Yorkshire we all want.
“I believe Chris is the right person to lead the Yorkshire Party in its next stage of development. He has the drive, focus and determination to push the Party on: a Party, neither left nor right, just putting the interests of Yorkshire, its people, environment and economy first.
“I look forward to working with Chris, and all Yorkshire Party members in the weeks and months ahead, so we can build a stronger Yorkshire in a fairer United Kingdom.”
