In a tough fight, the Yorkshire Party came in the top 5 parties, gaining more than double the votes of Labour's much-reduced majority (and more than Labour managed in the recent Chesham & Amersham by-election), and far ahead of the 11 others below.
Both the main Westminster parties have failed to deliver on real devolution and opportunity for regions, towns and communities such as in Batley and Spen. Corey Robinson stood up for real solutions, and unlike many candidates gained votes in every area of the seat.
We congratulate Kim Leadbeater on her victory, and hope she will deliver for Batley & Spen.
We can't help but feel the Tories lost by standing a candidate unconnected to the area, and invisible in their campaign.
Empty slogans on "levelling up" are not good enough, and the government need to wake up, take notice, and give the real power & funding required.
