We are pleased to announce the selection of Jim Warrender, to contest the Southey By-election in Sheffield for the Yorkshire Party on May 4th.
Jim has spent his working life in accountancy, and the past 14 years running his own practice.
"I have always lived in Sheffield. Firstly in Wincobank then in Ecclesfield and for the last 13 years in Stocksbridge. My father was a Steam Hammer Driver at Jessop Saville on Brightside Lane for all his working life."
In addition to his professional experience, Jim is also active in the community, through groups such as Stocksbridge in Bloom, as well as helping to organise interest shows.
Speaking about why he wanted to stand for the Yorkshire Party, Jim explained;
"Yorkshire gets a very raw deal when it comes to government funding and the North of England will never be regenerated while ever the the vast majority of government funding is concentrated in the south east of the country"
"I would like to see a devolved Yorkshire so that we can improve job opportunities, the environment, and our infrastructure - in Sheffield, Southey, and across our county."
Jim would make an excellent councilor, and we are proud he will be on the ballot in Southey this May.
Voting Yorkshire Party sends the clearest message about the need to take powers and decisions down from Westminster, to the places and people they affect. A vote for Jim also sends a clear message about the quality of candidate our city and your area deserves.
