Yorkshire First - the party for Yorkshire - has received overwhelming backing from members to change its name to the 'Yorkshire Party'.
Acting Leader, Stewart Arnold, commented: "Ever since its formation in April 2014, Yorkshire First members and other supporters of our overall aims have suggested that the 'Yorkshire Party' may be a more positive and inclusive name for our party to adopt.
"The name the 'Yorkshire Party' had previously been unavailable unfortunately but that has been overcome recently and the entire membership has been balloted on the proposed name change.
"The result of the ballot of members was overwhelmingly in favour of Yorkshire First being renamed the Yorkshire Party."
"I'm delighted by the result as I believe that the Yorkshire Party name would better reflect what we stand for, and allow us to continue to grow and develop as an optimistic and inclusive party."
In a further change, Richard Carter the party's leader since its formation in April 2014, has stood down and Deputy Leader, Stewart Arnold, has been endorsed as Acting Leader until the party's conference in October.
Stewart Arnold added: "Unfortunately Richard's work commitments are such that he's had to stand down for the time being and, as it seemed the fashion to change party leaders at the moment, we thought we would join in!"
