New Yorkshire Party Branches

Yorkshire devolution campaigners met Redcar earlier this week to launch an new branch.

Redcar, which was historically part of Yorkshire's North Riding, is now, at least as far as policy makers in Westminster are concerned, separate from God's own county. However, a many people in the town still have a sense of a Yorkshire identity and share the Yorkshire Party's view that the north of England has, for too long, been grossly underfunded by central government.

Martin Roberts, the chair of the Yorkshire Party's Membership working group described the meeting as 'excellent'.

'It was fantastic to hear people's thoughts on their Yorkshire identity and highlight issues surrounding connectivity, transport and lack of employment in the area.'

More information will be available from the branch's Facebook group or at: yorkshireparty.org.uk/calendar

The Yorkshire Party has also established a new East Yorkshire group, which is holding its inaugural meeting on Wednesday, 29th November.

The branch covers an area encompassing Bridlington, Driffield, Market Weighton, Pocklington and Stamford Bridge. Yorkshire Party leader Stewart Arnold will be at the meeting to talk about the current moves for devolved powers in Yorkshire, and the campaigners want to hear other people's views about the future. The meeting is at the Wesley Centre, behind St. John’s Methodist Church, Market Place, Market Weighton.
