DevoConnect in partnership with the Yorkshire Building Society
WIth Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region and the West Midlands steaming ahead towards their first mayoral elections in May, one cannot help but feel that Yorkshire has been left behind. Much is made of the ‘Yorkshire brand’ and the cultural cohesiveness of the region but thus far, this has not translated into a shared vision of how to precede.
With the South Yorkshire devolution deal seemingly off the cards, local leaders are increasingly talking of a pan-Yorkshire devolution deal. Could it follow the format of existing devo deals? Or would it look entirely different?
Join DevoConnect and the Yorkshire Building Society for an evening of discussion and debate with speakers presenting their understanding of the state of devolution in Yorkshire and what should be worked towards in 2017.
Confirmed speakers: Cllr Carl Les, Leader of North Yorkshire County Council, Dick Caborn, former MP and Minister for the Regions and Mike Regnier, incoming Chief Executive of Yorkshire Building Society.
Other invited speakers include Andrew Percy MP, Minister for the Northern Powerhouse; Cllr Judith Blake, Leader of Leeds City Council and Chair of the Core Cities Group; and Cllr Stephen Brady, Leader Hull City Council.
The event will be followed by a drinks reception.
