Yorkshire First enjoys by-election success

Yorkshire First candidate Tony Devoy scored almost 10% in the Dearne North, Barnsley, council by-election.

In Thursday 27th August's Dearne North by-election, Yorkshire First secured 9.8% - over twice as many votes as the Conservatives.  Whilst Labour held onto their safe seat, The Party for Yorkshire challenged for second place only 25 votes behind UKIP.

Tony, as Yorkshire First's first ever by-election candidate, ran a fantastic campaign supported by Yorkshire First members from across Yorkshire.  Whilst ultimately Labour retained their Dearne North seat, Yorkshire First's strong showing can only help to increase the pressure on Yorkshire council leaders to start putting the needs of our region first.

A big congratulations to Tony and the Yorkshire First team from South Yorkshire!

That’s a great result. Keep at it and you can fill a vacuum left by the Lib Dems ( enforced ) and to some extent the Greens ( voluntarily ).
