By-election candidate calls for action on 'pub eyesore'

Tony Devoy, the Yorkshire First candidate for the upcoming byelection in Thurnscoe has called for action over the derelict pub in the middle of the village.

'The Thurnscoe' has been derelict for several years and local candidate Tony Devoy is demanding action.

Devoy said:

"The pub is the centre of the village and it is frankly an eyesore. It has been derelict for several years and I am supporting local residents who want action on this blot on the landscape.

“This is a building that could be a real asset for the community - and is exactly the kind of decision-making powers that should be decided in this area - not Barnsley.

"People I have spoken to think it is well suited to community use given its size and position in the village and I hope this is something I can work on with local residents over the coming weeks."
